AAA-ICDR pre-moot awards
The AAA-ICDR will recognize outstanding team performance during the 20th Annual AAA-ICDR Practice Moot and Lecture Series.
In-Person Pre-Moot Award
$3,000 (U.S.)
Awarded to the highest-graded team participating in the in-person AAA-ICDR Pre-Moot.
Online Pre-Moot Award
$1,500 (U.S.)
Awarded to the highest-graded team participating in the online AAA-ICDR Pre-Moot.

AAA-ICDR pre-moot FAQs
Is there a registration fee?
No. There is no registration fee for the AAA-ICDR Practice Moot and Lecture Series.
Does the AAA-ICDR provide funding assistance?
The AAA-ICDR does not provide financial assistance to participating teams. However, we are happy to provide documentation and assistance to teams applying for funding from other sources.
Does the AAA-ICDR provide assistance with visa or scholarship applications?
The AAA-ICDR can provide proof of participation to teams applying for visas or financial assistance.
Are there any restrictions on participation?
All teams participating in the Hong Kong or Vienna rounds of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot are welcome to apply for the AAA-ICDR Practice Moot and Lecture Series.
Because teams may not argue against or observe a team they are scheduled to meet in Hong Kong or Vienna, the AAA-ICDR will take precautions to avoid these pairings. Participating teams must notify the AAA-ICDR before the event of their Hong Kong or Vienna pairings and any other known conflicts.
Who serves as an arbitrator for the AAA-ICDR Practice Moot and Lecture Series?
Volunteer arbitrators are drawn from the AAA-ICDR’s roster of professional arbitrators. Members of the roster have significant legal, business, or professional experience, as well as training and experience in arbitration, mediation, and other forms of dispute resolution.
How many rounds of arguments will each team be assigned?
The AAA-ICDR endeavors to give each team an opportunity to argue as both Claimant and Respondent.
Will teams receive scores and feedback?
Arbitrators will be asked to provide participating students with individualized scores and written comments. Because the AAA-ICDR Practice Moot and Lecture Series emphasizes student education and development, arbitrators are encouraged to focus on substantive written and oral feedback in addition to numerical scores.
Will top-performing teams be recognized?
Yes. For the 2027 program, the AAA-ICDR will provide special recognition to the highest-performing in-person and online teams. See the AAA-ICDR Pre-Moot Awards section above for details.
