Lucy Greenwood is an independent arbitrator specializing in international commercial disputes, particularly in the energy sector. I have acted as arbitrator in more than 120 arbitrations since becoming a full-time arbitrator in 2017. I am qualified in Texas and English law.

Q. Tell us about your background in the energy industry and resolving energy disputes, including areas such as regulatory compliance, environmental matters, joint ventures, or other complex energy issues.
I spent ten years living and working in Houston, Texas, focusing on energy disputes, spanning the full range of energy issues, from ultra-deepwater infrastructure disputes to fracking and from renewables to heavy crude.
Q. If applicable, tell us about your experience with cross-border energy disputes.
Most of the disputes I have been involved with have involved cross-border issues.
Q. What types of energy disputes do you most often see in your work?
Most of the disputes I am involved in are still hydrocarbon-related, but I am seeing an increasing number of renewables disputes.
Q. What drew you to ADR to work in the energy space? What do you value most about serving as a neutral on AAA's Energy panel?
My first international arbitration in 1998 involved an offshore gas field with US parties; since then, I have developed my expertise in this space. I value the variety of energy work that the AAA Energy panel provides.
Q. What emerging trends are you seeing in the Energy sector? What developments do you think will most shape the future of dispute resolution in this area?
I think there will be an increasing number of disputes involving renewable and emerging technologies, data centers, and crypto-mining.
